Promoter quickstart
Run your first event on Skip The Box Office as a new Promoter.
Overview
You need an approved Promoter account before you can create events, sell tickets, or access sales data. If you have not applied yet, start with the Promoter application.
This quickstart walks you through running your first event from setup to payout:
- Confirm your Promoter access
- Create and publish an event
- Configure tickets and pricing
- Monitor real-time sales
- Prepare the iOS scanning app
- Run event day check-in
- Complete post-event wrap-up and payout
1. Confirm Promoter access
Verify your Promoter account
Make sure you have been accepted as a Promoter and can sign in to your Promoter Dashboard. Your Promoter role is required to access event management, ticket setup, sales reports, and payouts.
Review promoter requirements
Confirm you understand your responsibilities for event details, ticket policies, and attendee management before you start building your event.
2. Create your first event
Open the Promoter Dashboard
Sign in to your Promoter Dashboard. From the main navigation, go to the section where you manage events.
Add a new event
Use the event editor to create a new event. Add the basics: event name, date and time, venue, and a short public description so attendees know what to expect.
Set event visibility and basics
Configure any core options available in the event editor, such as time zone, age restrictions, and any notes you want shown on the event page or tickets.
3. Set up tickets and pricing
Define ticket types
In the ticketing section of the event editor, add each ticket type you plan to sell (for example, General Admission or VIP). For each ticket type, set a clear name and short description.
Configure prices and quantities
For each ticket type, set the price, total quantity available, and any limits per order if supported. Make sure total capacity matches your venue and safety limits.
Configure sales window
Set when tickets go on sale and when sales should end before the event. Review that the sales start and end times match your announcement plans.
4. Publish and start selling
Preview the event page
Use the event preview in your Promoter Dashboard to confirm event details, ticket options, and pricing appear correctly for attendees.
Publish the event
When everything looks correct, publish the event so tickets become available for purchase through the platform.
Share your ticket link
Copy the public event or ticket page link from your dashboard and share it through your usual promotion channels.
5. Monitor real-time sales
Track sales and attendance
From your Promoter Dashboard, open the event's sales or analytics view to see real-time ticket sales, revenue, and remaining inventory.
Adjust inventory if needed
If allowed, update ticket quantities or close specific ticket types from the event editor as you approach capacity.
6. Prepare the iOS scanning app
Install the scanning app
On each check-in device, download and install the Skip The Box Office iOS app from the app store.
Sign in with your Promoter credentials
Use your Promoter account to sign in to the app so it can access your upcoming events and attendee lists.
Test scanning before doors open
Use a test ticket or low-risk order to confirm that scanning works, tickets validate correctly, and the app syncs with your event.
7. Run event day check-in
Select the correct event in the app
In the iOS app, choose the event you are running so scans update the correct attendee list.
Scan tickets at the door
Use the app to scan each attendee's ticket at entry. The app will validate tickets and help you manage re-entry policies if supported.
Monitor live attendance
Keep an eye on check-in counts and outstanding attendees in your Promoter Dashboard or app to track how the event is filling in real time.
8. Post-event wrap-up and payout
Confirm event completion
After the event ends, review final sales, attendance, and any remaining tickets in your Promoter Dashboard.
Review reports and exports
Download any sales or attendee reports you need for your records, partners, or venue.
Wait for payout
Payouts occur after the event is complete. Make sure your payout details are up to date in your Promoter account so funds can be sent without delay.
